"SPEECH"

My name is Cyrielle. I am an exchange student from France. I am in Tulsa, in Oklahoma since the August 12th. In France, I live in the very small town called Boussois, near Belgium. I have three older sisters. My father is a doctor, but he works in a factory : he takes care of the workers. My mother is a nurse for kids.
My school in France is really different from my highschool here. We begin school at 8.00 and we finish at 5.00 sometimes later or earlier. We don't have the same block everyday. It is an old pulblic school, but I like it because the people are really nice.
During the weekend, I usually do my homework, because we must work a lot, or I visit my friend or my cousins. I love sport. I practise in France volley ball and badminton with my school, and I practise pole vaulting with a club.
Here, I am very lucky because I will practise pole vaulting pretty soon...I'm so happy !
I choose to become an exchange student because I think it is wonderfull to learn an other langage and it is really interesting to discover a new country, a new style of life. My sister was an exchange student with Rotary three years ago. She was in Arizona. She really enjoyed her year and that's why I wanted to become an exchange student too.
My host family is wonderfull, I'm very lucky for that too !!! I have three sisters and one brother, but only my host brother and one of my host sisters live with me. I will change my host family in one weeks. I am sure my second family wil be really nice, but I am a little anxious, because I will be in a new house, and it takes some time to be confortable.
I really like Tulsa, but I think I couldn't live here all my life. I use to live in a small town near the country and I prefer that kind of city, because I can go everywhere with my bike, and I know most of the people who live in my town.
I am in Bishop Kelley, this is a very good school. It was a little hard to be integrated but now it is better. I can't say I have a lot of friends but I know a lot of people and they are nice with me. My best friends are the other exchange student. I met them in Arkansas for the first time, and we became all friends in two days. We have the same experience, and then we can understand each other.
I really like the United States. I always say that I feel as if I was in a movie, because I knew the United States by watching TV, and that incredible for me to think " I am in America !"  I think all the things here are very big...the cars, the houses, the building..... But it is not very different from France. We wear the same clothes, we listened the same kind of musique...
I think it's why I am not really homesick. I miss my parents and my friends a lot, that is normal, but I am not sad to be here and I enjoy everyday of my life here ! Everyday I learn something knew and it is so interesting. I am sure this experience will give me a lot of knowledge for my future, and I will have friends from all the world.

Friday, August 23, 2002 " Hi everybody ! I arrived in Tulsa August 12th, and I'm relly enjoyed. My host family is very nice. They have four children, but only two live in our house. Tulsa is a very great city, and my highschool is cool too. It's a little hard to make friends at the beginning because I can speak english very well. But I'm sure, in one month I will have some friends. Good luke for every exchange student. I hope you will have a good year !     Bye !      Cyssi !!!"
