Many new policies and procedures go into effect for the 2006-2007 exchange year. Your District YE team is working to update orientation materials for you.
  • Background
    1. RI has issued certification requirements worldwide
    2. US State Department has done the same
    3. Both remarkably alike
    4. Both will improve our program
  • New Certification Requirements
    1. Club compliance process
    2. For all host families and volunteers
      1. Interviews
      2. Criminal background checks (CBC)
      3. Orientations that address abuse or sexual harassment
    3. Contact information for students
    4. Post exchange evaluations (student, parent, host family0
    5. Counselors for all students (long-term inbound, long-term outbound, short-term inbound, short-term outbound, etc)
    6. Orientation for short term inbounds
    7. Retention of Records
  • Club Compliance Process
    1. Clubs must go on record as complying with district certification process
    2. Simple 1-page form created for club signatures
  • Interviews
    1. In home interviews must be conducted for all host families, including sons or daughters 18+ in home
    2. All volunteers must be interviewed
      1. District and club YE committee members
      2. Others in club anticipated to have multiple contacts (3 or more) during year (guideline)
