|
What
does it cost? |
LESS
than it costs most parents to keep the student at home!
There is an application fee of $200
which is non-refundable if you attend the District-level
interviews. If you are selected for the program, the cost to
you and your parents would be about
$3875 plus any spending money your parents choose to
give you. Some scholarship funds available for application fee,
and some scholarship funds will be available for the 1/3 to 2/3
of the exchange fee.
Students will also have such expenses as,
-
getting a passport,
-
applying for a visa,
- paying the emergency fund
(approximately $500, refundable at end of year) required by the host district, and
-
traveling to the host-country's
consulate (in the USA) if an interview or an in person
appearance is required as part of the visa application
process
Note: The Emergency Fund covers any
"emergency" expenses that a student might have during his/her
exchange. The hosting district overseas sets the amount of
the Emergency Fund. The required amount of the Emergency
Fund varies from host district to host district. However, it
usually ranges from $400 - $600. When funds from this account
are spent to cover an emergency expenditure, the student's
family must replenish the fund so that it always remains at the
required level for the full period of the exchange. Any or all
funds remaining in the Emergency Fund account at the end of the
student's exchange are returned to the student. |
|
Who
Pays? |
|
Parents
- who can actually save
money (as opposed to the cost of keeping the student at home) at
the same time that they give their child an unparalleled
"leg up" in the world!
Most students can CLEP out of 8 - 28 hours of foreign language
classes at the university level -- that's the equivalent of
approximately $1600 - $5600 in college tuition at $200/credit
hour.
The Outbound Flat Fee can be paid
- in one payment of $3875 (due January 31st),
or
- in six installment payments of $645.83 each
(due Jan 31st , Feb 28th, March 31st, April 30th, May 31st,
and June 30th)
